I first want to say thank you to everyone's suggestions and concerns about B's allergies. Just when we think we get it cleared up, something else happens that sets her off in hives. We know that there is an environmental factor in our backyard that immediately makes her break out, but we know its not grass since she tested negative for that. Who knows what it is, but from now on she doesn't go outside unless she is wearing shoes and socks since even Benedryl can't seem to make her comfortable. We go back to the allergist in a week so I'll keep you updated.
On to happier subjects! This past weekend I was able to go down to my in-laws where I helped host a baby shower for my awesome sister-in-law Ashley. She's expecting a baby boy in July and we are so excited for the little man's arrival! :) On Wednesday, I packed the kids up and headed down to PG where my other sister-in-law Aubrey and I decided to put Pinterest to the test and make some tissue paper pom poms to hang over the table and a banner (which I failed to get a picture of...) of onesies and diapers that said "Boy Oh Boy." Here is what our table looked like the day of the shower:
Our pom poms turned out pretty cute and were super easy to make. You can't see it in the picture but there was an orange one on the top. Aubrey made a cute motorcycle out of diapers and baby blankets that the elephant is sitting on. I made yummy chocolate chip cookie dough cupcakes and put them in fun little cupcake liners that I found off of Etsy. We also had matching straws for sipping, eclairs, cookies, candy, and some fun blue cake pops made by my sister-in-law Shayna.
Ashley received lots of cute and needed gifts. On the way out, guests were asked to leave a little bit of advice for Ashley and take a decorated sugar cookie shaped like a onesie. This was my first time piping with royal icing on a sugar cookie. I like how they turned out, but I could definitely use some practice on thinning my icing and piping straighter lines. Anyway, here were the cookies all wrapped up and ready to go (thanks Aubrey for taking the picture!):
I was a slacker and didn't get a picture of my cute pregnant sister-in-law, but she looks great and she is going to be a great mom. We love you Ashley! :)
Oh my goodness, those cookies were just as amazing to eat as they were to look at! I couldn't believe it when Janet said you made them, they look like a professional bakery's! You guys sure throw a great shower!
ReplyDeleteI need to hire you out! Those cookies look so professional!
ReplyDeleteI'm so lucky i get to call a crafty chick like you my friend! I'm crazy impressed and absolutely love every last bit! Your cookies look uh-may-ZING! Did you make the little animals on them, too!?
ReplyDeleteLast time i tried tissue paper flowers they had a flat side and i about had a nervous breakdown... any hints?
Yep Ang, I made the little animals too! As far as the tissue paper, we just kept fluffing and turning them around. If we were to do it again, I think we would use more tissue paper (we only used 8 sheets, some tutorials I saw used more like 12+) and cut your half circle really narrow so you get more of a petal look than a scallop look. Does that make sense?!
ReplyDeleteYour cookies look great!
