Summer Adventures: Family Home Evenings

We have really tried to put a focus on having consistent family home evenings, especially on the nights when we really don't feel like doing it.  The kids love it and we love that they are learning new things and spending time together, most of the time without fighting! :)  This summer we have done things just around the house. First up, we did croquet.
Coop found the croquet set in the shed and wanted to learn how to play.  As you can see from the awkward ways of handling the mallets, it's a work in progress. :)  They loved hitting the balls around the yard and choosing out their special colors.  Allie just chilled in the shade and blew bubbles.

We like to have yummy treats for FHE, so we whipped up a chocolate pie and some mint cupcakes.  We shared the cupcakes with a neighbor who had just had a baby.
My mom found an old slip n' slide in my grandparents basement as they were going through the estate and asked if we would be interested....um, yes!  B loved the slip n' slide, we literally had to pull her off of it. Coop struggled with mastering the concept of running and then sliding, he would just throw himself onto the slide or stop and jump.  It was painful to watch and he ended up having meltdowns.  Eventually Dan would just push the kids down the slide.  It is kind of hard to slip n' slide without having a small hill.
One Sunday the sharing time lesson was on the temple and Coop wanted to go see one.  Since Ogden is closed, we had the option to drive to Brigham City or Bountiful.  We chose Bountiful.  Upon getting there, we realized that temple was closed as well, I'm assuming for cleaning?  Anyway, someone had the parking lot gates partially open and were taking pictures on the grounds so we snuck up quickly for a few pictures of our own:
Our latest activity involved breaking out my birthday present from my mom, a fondue set!  I let Coop go with me to pick out our yummy fruit.  He chose kiwis, a mango, an orange, strawberries, and bananas.  The kids loved having their own little "fork" to put the fruit on and dip in chocolate.  Without fail, Bailey would always get her fruit stuck in the chocolate and let out a long "ooooo."  It was cute and the kids liked trying new fruit (kiwis, mango) to eat.
