This year we let Coop have a friend party and we chose a Monster's Inc. theme. Here are our Mike and Sulley cupcakes:
For party hats we made Monster Inc. hard hats and I made scream canisters for the kiddos to take their party favors home in. Inside were Mike and Sully crayons and Mike and Sully oreos (oreos dipped in colored chocolate that kind of looked like the cupcakes).
The kiddos got to decorate their own little plaster monster. Thank heavens for trash bags that can double as artist aprons! :)
Then we went out and had fun with the pinata! I made it myself, since I couldn't find a "Mike" pinata anywhere. The kids each got a shot before it was beaten into pieces and everyone went home with lots of candy!
I was so grateful to all the moms who allowed their kidlets to come, it really made Cooper's day to have so many friends and family there. Here is a cute picture with all of them on the stairs:
And we tried to get a "scary face" picture...this is what we got:Grandma and Grandpa Swenson came up later that night for pizza and s'more cupcakes. They gave Cooper the thing he wanted on his wish list the most, the "Who's Behind the Door" game! I can't tell you how many times we have played this game, it is his absolute favorite!
Grandma and Grandpa Gleason came the next day and stayed for the weekend. We told them to get Coop a scooter in hopes of getting him out and away from the computer and video games so much. After a rough start, he slowly started mastering the scooter:
The scooter is actually Bailey's favorite toy. I think she has rode it every day since we got it and she wants one of her own for her birthday. :) We ended the birthday celebrations with a Plants vs. Zombies cake. Coop always has these elaborate ideas for his cakes and this year was no exception. He wanted a full scale model with 3D figures and I just said no. :( I still think this cake turned out pretty well.
Happy Birthday Buddy! We love you!
