Summer Adventures: Hiking to Timpanogos Cave

At the start of summer we decided we weren't going to be couch potatoes and to start trying to get in shape and be more active with the kids.  First on the list was to hike to Timpanogos Cave.  Yeah, we didn't really start small. :)  We got up bright and early, dropped Allie off at Grandma Swenson's house, and headed up the canyon.  It was a great day to go hiking.  We didn't make it very far before we had to stop and break into the trail mix and other snacks we had packed for the day:
The views were amazing and we got lucky to see a baby deer that had fallen onto the trail.  It was so tiny! The rangers were pushing people through so I didn't get a picture, but it was pretty cute and the kids loved it. Here we are making it up the mountain:

It took us the entire 1 1/2 hours allotted to you to make it to the top and entrance to the cave.  But the kids were troopers and did amazing!  It helped that the last quarter mile there was a cute grandma/grandpa couple that kept chatting with them.  Here they are at the entrance to the cave:

We thought the kids would absolutely love the cave...and we were dead wrong! :)  They thought it was too dark and kept crying and complaining until the sweet guide gave them a flashlight to play around with and help with the tour.  After that, the cave seemed a lot more cool to them.  Here are some shots of interesting things inside the cave:
Going down sure was a lot easier than going up! :)  The kids enjoyed it though and we had a good time. I made B sit by the sign before we left and snapped a quick picture.  We headed to P.G. for some yummy lunch and to pick up our sweet baby before heading home.
