Pros: This is where Disney is putting all of the Pixar stuff, which is what Coop has grown up with. They had Monsters Inc., a Bugs Life, Toy Story, and Up as well as adding live shows of Disney Junior and a 3D Muppet show. They are also adding Cars Land which we can't wait to go back and see.
There isn't as much to see and do so we didn't feel as rushed as we did in Disneyland to get it all done.
Better rides for adults: Tower of Terror, California Soarin', California Screamin', Grizzly River Rapids
Cons: While Cooper hit the height requirements for everything in Disneyland, he came up just short in California Adventure and we're not really sure why Disney decided to add an extra two inch requirement on some of the rides. This lead to some frustration on Cooper's part, we had measured before hand and thought he made the requirements, we swear California Adventure's height sticks are off! :)
Anyway, on to the pictures. Coop's favorite Disney movies are Monsters Inc. and Up. We were so excited to find out that they add a Monster's Inc. ride and it was really cute. For anyone that knows Cooper, you know he is obsessed with doors. He was so excited to see that they had a giant Boo's door to get a picture by.
We did the Monsters Inc. ride 3 times and then moved on. We met some other fun characters like Chip n' Dale and Mr. Incredible:
A Bug's Land was pretty fun. They had Flik's flyers where you fly around like the Dumbo ride but in take-out food or animal cookie boxes and a Heimlich "chew-chew" train where you got to ride through giant partially eaten food. Coop's favorite though was Tuck n' Roll's bumper cars. We also did this several times:
Over by the Grizzly River Rapids Disney has made the park look and feel like you are in the Redwood forest. Here, they have an area where you can be like Russell from Up and become a Wilderness Explorer! You have to complete 6 different tasks such as a Wolf Howl, Rock Climb, and look at some cool totem poles. You also have to find Kevin's tracks. Funny story about Kevin's tracks. All over the cement walkways they have imprinted tracks of different animals. So naturally Dan and I figured that Kevin's tracks would be somewhere among all the other animal tracks. After looking for a long time (I'd say 15 minutes or more) I realized that Kevin's tracks were actually giant ones and they were up behind the sign. We both felt pretty silly!
Meeting Doug....Russell sadly wasn't there that day...
Another section of the park is called "Paradise Pier." Here it is made to look like a boardwalk and the home of Ariel. Here is a picture of the Pier and Cooper riding King Triton's carousel:
It was fun to do the giant Mickey Ferris Wheel because you could see into Cars Land. We also rode the Ferris Wheel with a fun family from Australia who was going on Day 5 of Disneyland! Over in the Pier they have a fun Toy Story ride that is done in 3D. While you wait in line (and it was our longest wait of the entire trip) they have a huge Mr. Potato Head that interacts with the crowd. We were also able to snap a picture with Buzz Lightyear, we missed Woody by 5 minutes. :(
Coop waiting impatiently to get on the ride, also voicing his displeasure at yet another picture. What can I say, I like lots of pictures!
For the final ride of the day, Cooper went on a Jumpin' Jellyfish ride that took you up to the top and dropped you down slowly. He also got to experience "Turtle Talk with Crush" which he thought was pretty cool. At the end of the day though, we had another tired boy who fell asleep shortly after dinner in the car as we drove to San Diego.
Wow, looks like you guys had such a fun time! What a lucky little guy!
